What began in 1983 as a carry-bag business in Mumbai is now a group making paper, plastic, compostable and cloth packaging for brands across India and overseas.
Our story
Built in Mumbai, one factory at a time.
Fortunext began in Mumbai in 1983 as a plastic carry-bag business, started by co-founders Hitesh Parikh and Gopal Shah. In 1990 it became a manufacturer, commissioning its first factory with a capacity of 140 tonnes a year.
Steady investment in machinery, people and customer relationships turned that single factory into an industrial operation. Today the group can produce more than 5,000 tonnes of plastic and compostable packaging a year, alongside 12 crore paper bags (FY 2025-26).
In 2015 the second generation, Nimit Parikh and Punarv Parikh, joined the leadership and broadened the business into paper packaging, cloth bags, non-woven bags and injection moulding.
Incorporated on 20 December 2024, Fortunext Industries Limited brings the group’s specialised companies together under one name, so buyers can source paper, plastic, compostable and cloth packaging from one accountable partner.

The beginning
Co-founders Hitesh Parikh and Gopal Shah start a plastic carry-bag business in Mumbai.
- 1990
First manufacturing unit
Production begins, with an annual capacity of 140 tonnes.
- 2011
Injection moulding
Diversification into injection moulding with the incorporation of M/s Shreeji Injection Moulding Pvt. Ltd.
- 2015
Second generation
Nimit Parikh and Punarv Parikh join the family business and set a diversification agenda in motion.
- 2015
Non-woven & PP woven
M/s Fortunext Retail Pvt. Ltd. is incorporated for non-woven and PP woven sack carry bags.
- 2016
Cloth bags
Cotton cloth bags join the range, now part of M/s Fortunext Retail Pvt. Ltd.
- 2017
Paper packaging
Acquisition of M/s Shubh Shagun Packaging Pvt. Ltd., adding 1.8 crore paper bags of annual capacity.
- 2019
Paper capacity to 6 crore
Shubh Shagun Packaging scales to 6 crore bags a year.
- 2022
Fortunext Packaging Pvt. Ltd.
The original business becomes Fortunext Packaging Pvt. Ltd., a private limited company.
- 2024
Paper capacity to 10 crore
Shubh Shagun Packaging scales to 10 crore bags a year.
- 2024
The parent company
Fortunext Industries Limited is incorporated on 20 December 2024 to bring the group’s companies together.
- 2025
Compostable at scale
Compostable cornstarch packaging goes into production; combined plastic and compostable capacity reaches 5,000 tonnes a year.

Paper capacity to 12 crore
Shubh Shagun Packaging scales to 12 crore bags a year.
- 2026
Digital printing & new leadership
A digital printing line for paper bags is commissioned in July 2026; Khushboo Madia joins as Chief Marketing Officer.
